City completes erosion control works at Lake Hurlingham

South Perth Foreshore

The City has completed erosion control works at Lake Hurlingham in Sir James Mitchell Park, South Perth.

The project involved mulching around the lake and planting of 70 grow bags of Lake Club-rush (Schoenoplectus validus) along the water’s edge. This is aimed at improving the black swan habitat in the lake and the stability of the banks.

The City worked with the Town of Victoria Park who donated rolls of reinforced wire mesh which were installed to prevent damage from birds until the plants are established.

The works are part of the strategies identified in Node 7 of the South Perth Foreshore (SPF) Strategy and Management Plan.
