Speak with Confidence Awards celebrate 20th anniversary
The City of South Perth’s annual Speak with Confidence Awards celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2016.
These Awards provide valuable opportunities for year six and seven students from primary schools within the City to develop their public speaking skills and self-confidence.
Schools have had the opportunity to nominate up to two students to participate in the competition which will be held on Monday 27 June 2016 at the City of South Perth Civic Centre Reception Room. Competition rounds will be held in the morning, followed by the finals in the evening and presentation of awards.
While the event aim to increase the confidence and poise of middle school students and focus on how they can clearly express their opinions and ideas, the students choose their own topics, write their own speeches and deliver them to a panel of judges from Toastmasters International and an audience comprising teachers and family members.
“This event highlights the talented young people within our local schools. Encouraging and promoting the development of students’ public speaking skills,” Mayor Sue Doherty said.
“The City takes pride in supporting the education sector and it is a pleasure to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of these awards.”
