Discover culture and connection during Reconciliation Week 2026
The City of South Perth is proud to recognise National Reconciliation Week 2026 with two free community events to encourage learning, connection and cultural understanding across our community.
Held from 27 May to 3 June, National Reconciliation Week is an opportunity for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation. This year’s theme, “All In,” is a powerful call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day through action, respect and meaningful connection.
The theme strongly reflects the City’s commitment to reconciliation, as outlined in our Reconciliation Plan 2025–2030. The Plan provides a framework to guide how we continue to celebrate and strengthen recognition of First Nations culture, heritage and community connections.
We are also taking part in Reconciliation Australia’s Community Banner Program to celebrate National Reconciliation Week, with a banner on display on South Terrace outside the City of South Perth Civic Centre, and another at the corner of Coode Street and Mill Point Road in South Perth.
To mark the week, the City is hosting two special events for the community:
On Wednesday 27 May, community members are invited to attend Bush Tucker and Wellbeing with Dale Tilbrook at the South Perth Library from 5.30-7.30pm. Presented by respected Wardandi Bibbulmun woman and educator Dale Tilbrook, this interactive session will explore the connection between native foods, culture and wellbeing through tastings, storytelling and cultural knowledge sharing.
On Friday 29 May, join Traditional Owner Joe Collard for a Community Walk from Mindeerup Plaza to The Old Mill from 2-3pm. During the walk, Joe will share stories and insights about local culture, heritage and the significance of place, offering an opportunity to reflect on our shared histories and strengthen community connections.
All community members are encouraged to take part in these events and join the conversation during National Reconciliation Week 2026.
