Children's Literature Champions
The City of South Perth’s Children’s Literature Champion Program has been running since 2020 as a means to connect local authors with library programs and encourage a love of reading and literacy development in young people.
Throughout the year, our Champions will run workshops and host events, integrating learning and quality literature into the library calendar.
You'll be able to meet our Champions at various events - the South Perth Young Writers Award (SPYWA), during book week, school holiday workshops, and at other important events throughout the year.

Join us for a vibrant evening of salsa and cultural celebration.
What to expect:
A live performance by Bembé Latin Dance
A beginner-friendly salsa workshop in a safe and welcoming environment
An introduction to salsa steps and movement
Light refreshments and sandwiches
Whether you’re completely new to dance or looking to refresh the basics, this session is a great way to connect with music, movement, and community.
Alongside learning foundational salsa steps, you’ll also experience a short live performance by Bembé Latin Dance.
Bembé Latin Dance is a Perth-based salsa academy taught by Latin American-born instructors who grew up immersed in the culture of salsa and social dance. They share this lived experience through classes, workshops and events designed for all levels.
