Community safety is an issue that the City cannot tackle alone.
The City's Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan 2022-2027 (CSCPP) is underpinned by a community development approach that seeks to build social cohesion and community connections to enhance the community’s sense of safety. CSCPP was endorsed at the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 23 May 2023, following the public feedback period in March 2023.
The City facilitates a Community Safety and Crime Prevention Group comprising representation from key government agencies and the local community. Members include Kensington Police, Curtin University, the Member for South Perth, Department of Communities and other key partners to ensure community safety has a well-rounded approach and to carry out a number of community safety initiatives and projects.
If you are experiencing an emergency or have an urgent safety concern, immediately call 000.

CCTV is installed at local civic community facilities, parks and reserves and other local government property within the City of South Perth to enhance employee and public safety. The City also operates a mobile CCTV trailer that is set up for temporary occasions in areas around the local community as required including Ranger investigation work or community events.

City is offering anti-theft screws to residents free of charge to support the objectives of our Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan 2022-2027. Once tightened using a hand-held screwdriver, the anti-theft screws permanently secure the registration plate to the vehicle preventing removal or theft.
The screws are available for collection from the Civic Centre reception during business hours.
