On display from 10 August – 23 November 2024
Throughout April 2024, community members participated in workshops and drop-in sessions to create small artworks responding to this year’s Ex-Bo theme of celebrating the earth with a focus on sustainable practices.
The goal of the workshops was to craft masks or puppets from repurposed materials that would normally go into landfill. ReMida WA facilitated and supported these sessions with an array of discarded business and industry material that the organisation collects for this purpose. In addition to these creations, South Perth and Manning libraries hosted drop-in sessions for participants to express their visions of nature’s beauty through colourful collages, using items found in our natural environment.
The resulting craft and “Colours of Nature” collages displayed in the Box Gallery at Manning Hub invites community members to stop for a moment, to admire the natural beauty around us, and to reflect on how we take care of our planet. It also hopes to encourage discussion among us all around creative approaches to minimising waste.
These artworks were created and are displayed on the lands of the Whadjuk people and we recognise the knowledge they share.
