Community confirms City’s liveability credentials

A new City of South Perth survey has revealed how our community feels about local services, programs and priorities.

Results from the independent 2025 MARKYT Community Scorecard show the City rated highly for liveability, achieving an 85 out of 100 performance index score and a 99 per cent positive rating as a place to live.  

The City was also recognised as a popular destination, with a 96 per cent positive rating as a place to visit.

The survey, delivered by independent consultants Catalyse, invited 10,000 community members to share their views on City services, programs and priorities, with 1,159 surveys completed. 

Residents rated a number of services particularly strongly, including library services (96% positive), parks, playgrounds and reserves (92%), art, culture and creative activities (89%) and public transport (87%). Ranger services were industry leaders, recording an 88 per cent positive rating. 

The results also highlighted community priorities, including: 

  • Safety and crime prevention 

  • Sport and recreation 

  • Streetscapes, trees and verges 

  • Environmental management and conservation 

  • Footpaths, trails and cycleways 

  • Parks, playgrounds and reserves 

  • Festivals, markets and events 

  • Waste management
