Nominations now open for the 2026 Community Citizen of the Year Awards

News Update 17 July 2025
Nominations are now open for the 2026 Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

The Awards recognise outstanding individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to their local communities during the past, or those who have given exceptional service over a sustained period.

These contributions can include but are not limited to education, health, fundraising, voluntary services, business, employment, sport, arts, environment, social inclusion, or any other area that contributes to the betterment of the community.

Como resident Maryann Tsai was the proud recipient of the 2025 Community Citizen of the Year Award. She was recognised for her work as the founder of Reach Her, a not-for-profit organisation that has helped more than 500 women from diverse backgrounds connect with employment opportunities.

City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner said the Awards were a meaningful way to acknowledge the people who helped shape the community for the better.

“These Awards give us a chance to shine a light on the everyday heroes among us who generously dedicate their time, energy and passion to make our community stronger,” he said.

“I encourage everyone to take a moment to nominate someone whose efforts deserve to be recognised.”

If you know someone who has made a significant contribution to the local community, visit the Citizenship Awards webpage to submit a nomination.

Nominations close on 31 October 2025, and Awards will be presented at the City’s Australia Day Morning Ceremony on 26 January 2026.
