Art Exhibition: Inequality by Ryan Michaels

Inequality is a new collection of realist portrait paintings by Indian-Australian artist and educator Ryan Michael, exploring culture, identity, inequality and the stories of people who are often overlooked.

Drawing on Ryan’s experience of growing up between India and Australia, the exhibition reflects on heritage, cultural identity and the importance of representation. Through intimate portraits, Ryan gives a human face to issues of inequality, inviting audiences to consider dignity, circumstance, identity and our shared humanity.

Rooted in Ryan’s Indian heritage but reaching beyond it, Inequality celebrates cultural diversity while highlighting the experiences of communities that can remain unseen or underrepresented in Australian society.

The exhibition is presented as part of Ryan Michael's developing national exhibition program.
