Join the Library
Library membership is free and open to all residents of Western Australia.
If you are over 18 years of age you can join online or by visiting your nearest library. If you are under 18 you must be registered by a parent or guardian.
To join the library you are required to present 100 points of current identification:
Library membership is dependent upon provision of suitable proof of identity and address. Proof of identity and address is based on a 100 point identity check. The types of identification that may be used to meet the 100 points are summarised below and in the Library Membership Terms and Conditions.

Documented identification must include photograph, full name, West Australian permanent residential address and signature evidence for conditions of membership to be fulfilled.
One electronic version of an identification document may be provided with all other types to be in physical format.
Documentation that displays an expiry date must be current.
A parent or legal guardian, who is living at the same address, must be present when children under the age of 18 are completing a membership application.
For under 18's membership, parent/guardian ID and proof of address is required.
Once registered you can begin using library services immediately. We hope to see you at one of our library branches soon.
Please note:
- Items on loan can be renewed up to five times if the items are not overdue or reserved by another member
- A courtesy reminder notice will be sent when items are 14 days overdue
- A final notice will be sent and an administration fee charged if library items are not returned at 28 days.
