Animal Encounter Week coming to our libraries
Families are in for a treat during Animal Encounter Week at the City of South Perth libraries, running from 19-23 May.
From cat-themed storytime sessions to up-close encounters with some furry and slithery friends, the week promises a delightful mix of educational and fun workshops.
Animal interaction has long been shown to foster empathy, reduce stress and enhance learning. In celebration of these benefits, the City’s libraries have curated a program that highlights the diverse species found across Western Australia, while providing hands-on learning opportunities for all ages.
The Animal Encounter Week program will include:
- 19 May - Cuddly Animal Farm (all ages)
- 19 May - Get the Facts: Animal Care in the City (adults)
- 20 May - Digikitties: Meet real cats and code a feline friend (8-12 years)
- 20-21 May - National Simultaneous Storytime 2025 (2-5 years)
- 22 May - Bee Educated (8-12 years)
- 22 May - Snakes at the Library (all ages)
- 23 May - Play Time: Animal-themed session (6 months – 5 years)
