Nominations now open for the 2027 Community Citizen of the Year Awards
It is time to recognise the people who make the City of South Perth a better place, with nominations now open for the 2027 Community Citizen of the Year Awards.
The awards celebrate individuals and organisations whose dedication, generosity and community spirit have made a lasting impact, whether through years of voluntary service or a significant contribution to the community.
Contributions can include but are not limited to, education, health, fundraising, voluntary services, business, employment, sport, arts, the environment, social inclusion or any other area that strengthens the community.
Troy Dixon was the proud recipient of the City’s 2026 Community Citizen of the Year Award, in recognition of more than 40 years of service to the South Perth Lions Rugby League Club. Beginning as a ball boy and progressing to become a long-serving Junior Club committee member, Troy has helped shape generations of young players while fostering a safe, inclusive and family-focused sporting environment.
City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner said the awards were an opportunity to celebrate people like Troy, whose quiet dedication often had an extraordinary impact.
“Every day, people across our community give their time, skills and compassion to support others without expecting recognition,” Mayor Milner said.
“The Community Citizen of the Year Awards are our chance to acknowledge these outstanding individuals and organisations; celebrate their achievements and thank them for the positive difference they make in the lives of others.
“If you know someone who inspires others, strengthens our community or has made an exceptional contribution, I encourage you to nominate them.”
Nominations close on 31 October 2026, with the recipients to be announced at the City’s Australia Day Morning Ceremony on 26 January 2027.
