Celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026 across the City
Join us in celebrating 50 years of NAIDOC Week with a diverse program of free community events from 5-12 July.
The milestone theme, ’50 Years Deadly’, recognises five decades of NAIDOC Week and pays tribute to the Elders, artists, advocates and communities who have helped strengthen and celebrate First Nations cultures, histories and achievements.
The City’s celebrations begin with the Official NAIDOC Week Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday 6 July from 1.30-2.30pm outside the South Perth Community Hall, followed by Community Arts & Craft. Community members are invited to attend the free ceremony, with refreshments provided afterwards by Aboriginal-owned business Gather Foods.
Families can also enjoy special NAIDOC Storytime sessions celebrating First Nations culture through stories and crafts. Sessions will be held at South Perth Library on Tuesday 7 July and Manning Library on Wednesday 8 July, with activities designed for children aged 2-6 years.
On Wednesday 8 July, residents can join respected Noongar artist Sharyn Egan for a free Traditional Weaving Workshop at South Perth Library, learning weaving techniques using natural fibres while exploring the cultural significance of the practice.
The week will conclude with a Noongar Language and History Sessionon Thursday 9 July at the Old Mill Cultural Hub, where local Noongar Elder Joe (Possum) Collard will share stories, language and insights into the rich history and culture of Whadjuk Noongar Country.
All events are free, with some requiring registration.
