News Update 19 December 2025
Christmas

The City is delighted to announce the winners of its first-ever Christmas Lights Competition, with homes and businesses lighting up the festive season in spectacular style.

Our judges, Mayor Greg Milner and CEO Liz Ledger, were faced with the challenging but thoroughly enjoyable task of selecting winners among the finalists, each of whom embraced the Christmas spirit with dazzling creativity.

Residential Winners

The residential category attracted an exceptional standard of entries, prompting the judges to make a special decision. The entries were so difficult to separate, the judges chose to spread the Christmas cheer and share the prize pool of $3,000 among four finalists.

Winner ($1,500)

  • 14 Hopetoun Street, South Perth

Highly commended ($500 each)

  • 8 King Edward Street, South Perth
  • 26 Bickley Crescent, Manning
  • 17 Bland Street, Kensington

Business winner

The business category prize of $1,000 was awarded to:

  • Garden Affair, 62 Angelo Street, South Perth
Mayor Greg Milner said he was impressed with the level of creativity and festive spirit on display.

“I want to thank all our entrants for being involved in our first-ever Christmas Lights Competition,” he said.

“Not only did they embrace this competition, but they also brought joy to families across the City this festive season. It was incredibly difficult to choose the winners as all the displays were outstanding.”

Mayor Milner also acknowledged sponsors Nextdoor, Olsen Butchers, The Karalee, IGA on Preston, Soco Realty and Pagoda Resort, whose generous support made the competition possible.

Residents are invited to explore the finalists’ displays, as well as the City’s own festive lighting, by following the light trail map on our website.
