Youth week to kick off with Neon Festival
The City of South Perth is gearing up to celebrate Youth Week from 10-17 April with two exciting events that perfectly embody this year’s theme of “Our Threads, This Place, Your Moment”.
The festivities will begin on 11 April with the Neon Festival – a dynamic, free music concert for anyone aged 15–25. Set to take place at Manning Community Hall, the event will feature performances by some of WA’s most promising up-and-coming artists, including Mariae Cassandra, The Kickons, Kayps and EDIE.
The concert – a collaboration between the City of South Perth, Town of Victoria Park and their young people – will also offer food trucks, free face painting and chill zones to keep the energy high.
Registration is essential and can be completed online.
Then, on 16 April from 11am to 1pm, the Manning Bike Track Community Day will continue Youth Week celebrations, highlighting the theme of connection among young people, their community, and themselves.
The event will celebrate the opening of the track at George Burnett Precinct and will feature free icecream, sausage sizzle, Constable Care, kids’ activities and an interactive Bike Trick Jam by FreestyleNow. People on Bicycles will also be on hand to offer bike maintenance and safety checks.
If you’re aged between 12 and 25 years, the South Perth Youth Network is a great way to connect with youths in your community. SPYN empowers and engages young citizens in meaningful activities. Additionally, members meet regularly with the City to weigh in on the issues that matter to them. Applications can be made online by visiting the South Perth Youth Network webpage.
Don’t miss out on these fantastic opportunities to celebrate Youth Week in your community.
