WA Tree Festival returns in 2025

News Update 31 March 2025
The City of South Perth is bringing a leafy lineup of events to celebrate WA Tree Festival 2025. With a mix of hands-on workshops, school holiday activities, tree giveaways and more, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The festivities kicks off on Saturday 5 April 2025 with the second edition of the River Guardians Festival at Sir James Mitchell Park. This special event will feature a live ABC Radio Perth Breakfast broadcast with Amber Cunningham, Sabrina Hahn’s Roots and Shoots program and Gardening Australia’s Josh Byrne speaking on ‘RiverWise gardening’. Explore interactive wildlife displays, meet reptiles and marsupials, try your hand at wildlife photography and more.

On Tuesday 15 April at Manning Library you’ll learn the delicate art of flower pressing and create your own beautiful candles at our Mind Lounge: Pressed Flower Candle workshop. Bookings required.

Enjoy a magical morning of stories, songs, dancing and craft under the trees on Thursday 17 April with Songs & Stories Under the Trees at Ernest Johnson Oval. This session is perfect for families who love Rhyme Time, Toddler Time, Story Time or Play Time.

Our WA Tree Festival culminates in our popular Tree Giveaway on Saturday 10 May 2025 at the City of South Perth Nursery. We have 500 trees up for grabs and residents can choose from a variety of native species and help grow our local tree canopy. Residents can register their interest online. At this event, you’ll have the opportunity to speak with one of our team about the draft Urban Greening Strategy (UGS) and provide feedback as part of stage three of the stakeholder engagement.
