City welcomes 76 new citizens of Australia

News Update 20 September 2024
Last night, 76 people from 30 countries became Australian citizens in a special ceremony held in the City of South Perth.

Hailing from countries around the world, our newest citizens made a solemn pledge to uphold the values of democracy, human rights and freedoms that are an integral part of our community.

Since 1949, Australia has welcomed more than 6 million new citizens to our shores. Over six million people from 200 countries have been granted Australian citizenship.

Australian Citizenship Day is a moment for all of us to reflect on the significance of citizenship, the rights and responsibilities it carries, and the shared values that unite us.

The City of South Perth proudly hosts a Citizenship Ceremony four times each year.
