Community activations funding announced
The City of South Perth has granted funding of up to $15,000 to three community activation projects following an Expressions of Interest (EOI) process in August.
Manning Laneway Festival, Como Country Fair and South Perth Food and Wine Festival will each be awarded $15,000 in funding to support their activation.
Three smaller grants of $5000 were awarded to support the Summer Twilight Festival at Village Green in Karawara, a Community Open Day (Try Tennis) at Hensman Park Tennis Club and Preston Street Arts Collective’s Green Lab 2071.
The EOI process invited local community groups and businesses to submit applications to activate local precincts through the facilitation of temporary events and other initiatives.
The aim is to optimise community participation in social, cultural, and physical activities; and enhance community connectedness and community safety through activation of public spaces and places.
Nine (9) EOI applications were received and assessed by the City against qualitative selection criteria.
The City will support the successful organisations with their event planning over the next few months so they can navigate effectively through the required approval processes for their community activations.
