Updated Local Heritage Survey adopted

News Update 2 November 2026

The City of South Perth’s heritage places will be better recognised and documented following Council’s adoption of the updated Local Heritage Survey (LHS) at its October 2026 Ordinary Council Meeting.

The updated Survey reflects independent heritage reviews, community feedback and recent changes to the State Register of Heritage Places. Key changes include the creation of new heritage place records, updates to existing records and additional historical information.

It also recognises the Mount Henry Bridge’s recent inclusion on the State Register, increasing its local heritage significance classification from Category 3 to Category 1.

A 28-day consultation period attracted 18 submissions, with feedback considered as part of the final review process.

The City’s Heritage List will be updated through a separate statutory process and presented to Council for further consideration.
