Spring clean for free with six Recycling Centre visits

Got a trailer load of garden waste to get rid of? Or a pile of household junk taking up space? 

If you’re a City of South Perth ratepayer, you have six free visits to the Recycling Centre to help clear the clutter - and your vouchers are ready to use. 

Entry vouchers were included with 2026/27 rate notices, delivered to property owners in either hardcopy or via email in August, and are valid until 31 July 2027. 

Your six free visits include: 

  • Four green waste visits – up to 2m³ per visit, about the size of a small trailer load. 
  • Two general waste visits – up to 2m³ per visit, about the size of a small trailer load. 

Green waste vouchers can be used for common garden waste such as grass and hedge clippings, weeds, leaves and small prunings. 

General waste vouchers can be used for chargeable household waste that isn't accepted for free recycling, including general household junk, broken items and untreated waste timber. They can also save you money when getting rid of old mattresses. Each voucher covers up to two mattresses or mattress bases per visit.  

Remember, if something is too good to throw away, donate it to the Reuse Shop, also located at the Recycling Centre. 

For larger household and garden items, we can come to you with the City’s pre-booked Verge Valet™ collection service. Available to all residents, whether they pay rates or not, Verge Valet provides two green waste and one bulk waste collection per household each financial year, with each collection limited to 3 m³.

More ways to manage you waste

The Recycling Centre offers a range of waste services for all City residents, including free recycling of e-waste, batteries, scrap metal, cardboard, polystyrene and more.  

Residents can also use the City’s durable 120L reusable green waste bags to dispose of up to two bags of green waste free of charge each day during opening hours.

Check before you visit

The Recycling Centre cannot accept some types of waste, including: 

  • Food waste 
  • Household hazardous waste 
  • Asbestos 
  • Wet paint, liquids and chemicals 
  • Building rubble
  • CO₂ and butane cylinders 
  • Materials longer than 1.8m  
  • Vehicles over three tonnes  
  • Unbagged insulation and gypsum board  

Before you load up the boot or trailer for a trip to the Recycling Centre, check the webpage to see what can and can't be accepted - and remember, the Recycling Centre is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
