Extraordinary election nominations for Moresby and Como Wards

News Update 27 July 2026

Nominations to fill two vacant seats on the City of South Perth Council open on 4 August and close on 11 August with an Extraordinary Postal Election to fill vacancies on the Como and Moresby Wards to be held on 24 September 

Both councillor terms will expire on 16 October 2027.  

Potential candidates considering running to represent either the Como or Moresby Ward are encouraged to attend the City of South Perth’s candidate information session to be held at the Civic Reception Room on Wednesday 5 August 2026 at 6pm.  

Hosted by the City, you will have a chance to meet City Officers and a representative from WALGA. The free session is designed to to inform prospective candidates about the roles and responsibilities of local government Elected Members as individuals and the Council as a collective.  

Nominations are open to any eligible electors in the City. Anyone enrolled to vote as a Nominee of a body corporate is not eligible to nominate to become a Councillor.  

Nominations must be lodged with the Returning Officer at any time from Tuesday 4 August to 4pm on Tuesday 11 August by arrangement or between 2pm and 4pm on Tuesday 11 August (close of nominations) at the City of South Perth, corner Sandgate Street and South Terrace.
