City to begin annual broadleaf weed spraying
The City will begin its annual broadleaf spraying program this month to control weeds in parks, sumps and reserves, helping maintain well-presented and enjoyable turf areas for the community.
Spraying will be undertaken by a licensed contractor, in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended application rates.
Caution signage will be displayed on contractor vehicles and at treatment sites to advise park users when and where herbicide is being applied.
City officers will monitor operations to ensure compliance with safety guidelines. Signage will remain in place during spraying activities.
The program is expected to begin on Monday 27 July and take approximately five weeks, weather permitting. Works will begin in early July at Sir James Mitchell Park, before progressing to active reserves, passive reserves and sumps.
The City is committed to protecting community and environmental safety throughout the program.
