Evolve 2026: A festival of arts, events and culture

Media Release 30 June 2026

The City of South Perth is delighted to announce this year’s launch of our hugely popular Evolve: Arts, Events and Culture Winter Program, which will run from 18 July – 15 August.

This year’s program is packed full of imagination and creativity with workshops and events to appeal to an audience of all ages.

From creative writing to art journalling, watercolour painting and a children’s K-Pop dance workshop, the beloved program has ‘evolved’ to make sure it reflects the passions of our participants. Don’t miss the chance to join Djinda Kaal Dreaming where you can learn about the power and significance of the Candle Stick Banksia as you use traditional techniques to create your own masterpiece and enjoy homemade damper, quandong jam and a yarn.

The Old Mill Theatre will channel old Hollywood as it swings into sounds from the Big Band era on Wednesday 29 July with a live performance from the Perth Pocket Big Band. The evening will feature the timeless tunes made famous by Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, with high-energy performances and soaring vocals. Light refreshments are available to help you groove the night away.

City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner said Evolve continued to support and reflect the City’s emphasis on diversity and  inclusion with a fantastic array of artistic offerings available.

"Whether weaving inspires you or big band sounds are more your jazz, there’s something for everyone, as professional artists, creatives and performers take over the City,” Mayor Milner said.

"Evolve is one of the City’s most anticipated arts and culture events and it’s a wonderful opportunity to involve the whole family in discovering a new interest, connecting with your community and getting creative this winter.”
