Drainage upgrades at foreshore lakes
The City has begun upgrading drainage systems at Lake Douglas and Lake Hurlingham in Sir James Mitchell Park
The existing weir drainage systems are being removed and replaced with new stopboard systems which will make it easier to manage water levels in the lakes, especially during different weather and seasonal conditions.
The works, which began on 11 June, are expected to take be completed by the end of the month. They are being carried out Monday to Friday, 7am–4pm (weather permitting).
A temporary site compound has been set up in the park to store equipment, plant and materials (pictured below).
Traffic management is in place during construction. Minor pedestrian and vehicle detours may be required, and access to some areas of the park may be temporarily affected. The City encourages park users to follow signage.
The City and its contractors will work to minimise disruption and protect surrounding parkland and the environment during this time.
