Local tennis club serves up new accessible toilet and changeroom facility

News Update 8 June 2026

South Perth Lawn Tennis Club members and visitors now have access to a new universal accessible toilet and changeroom facility thanks to joint funding support from the City and WA Government.

Located at the South Perth Tennis Centre on Murray Street, Como, the upgraded facility improves accessibility, comfort and convenience for players, spectators and the wider community using the club and surrounding recreational areas.

The project was initiated and managed by the City after the existing facility was identified as non-compliant and no longer meeting the needs of the club and its growing number of participants. Recognising the importance of providing a functional and inclusive universal access toilet for the community, the City contributed more than $300,000 towards the project.

The project was also supported through the successful Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) Forward Planning Grants 2025/26 program, including a State Government contribution of $168,500 towards the upgrade works.

The South Perth Lawn Tennis Club has acknowledged the valuable support provided by the City, WA Government and project team throughout the delivery of the project, which was completed in May 2026.
