Como Beach and Salter Point Storm Damage

News Update 5 June 2026

Several areas across the City were damaged during the severe weather over the WA Day long weekend 30 May – 1 June.

The Salter Point Spit Boardwalk has suffered significant damage and remains closed while the City assesses repair options.

At Como Beach, part of the river wall collapsed, causing damage to the foreshore, footpath and stormwater infrastructure near the Como Jetty. The area has been made safe with temporary fencing, warning signs and a pedestrian detour. Public toilets remain open and accessible.

Specialist engineers are assessing the damage and planning both emergency and long-term repair works. The City is also seeking approvals to carry out urgent works to prevent further erosion.

The City continues to inspect affected areas and prioritise repairs to keep the community safe. Please follow all signage and avoid closed areas.

Fallen branches and vegetation have now been cleared from City streets and parks. If you spot any more, please report fallen trees/vegetation to us.
