Manning Library launches dedicated youth zone
Finding a space to hang out and unwind after school just got easier for the City’s young residents, with a new dedicated youth space now open at Manning Library.
The Kooyar Youth Zone – ‘kooyar’ meaning frog in Noongar to symbolise young people’s growth and transformation – features couches, beanbags and board games such as UNO, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Guess Who and Jumanji.
Young people can bring their own devices or sit back and enjoy some screen-free time with the latest Young Adult titles, with this popular genre located just across from the youth zone.
There are also foosball and air-hockey tables, and a whiteboard with pens for collaboration and fun. For our more studious young visitors, there’s space to do homework and group work and of course, there’s free Wi-Fi. BYO snacks are welcome too.
The space is dedicated for primary school aged visitors after 2.30pm on weekdays and all day Saturdays. It will eventually host events and activities for young people in the future.
