Shining a light on after-dark critters

News Update 13 October 2025

The City’s popular Night Stalks have wrapped up for another year, with families and nature lovers enjoying eight magical evenings exploring Bodkin Park in Salter Point.

Led by the ever-knowledgeable and engaging Joe Tonga from Natsync Environmental, the free guided walks offered a rare glimpse into the secret world of nocturnal wildlife. Participants spotted a variety of critters, including wolf spiders, lizards, motorbike and slender tree frogs, and even the elusive banjo frog.

As darkness fell, micro bats emerged from the City’s bat boxes, capping off another successful season of after-dark discovery.

The City's Night Stalks are held annually during the September/October school holidays. Spaces are limited and always book out quickly, so keep an eye out for the details of next year's event.
