Notification of upcoming soil sampling works – George Burnett Park
We’re doing some soil sampling at George Burnett Park, Karawara in early October which may impact your visit.
Contractors will be on site from 1-3 October taking soil samples from 16 locations around the park, which is the former Manning Tip site.
The works will assess soil conditions and potential contamination and are an important step to ensure the park remains safe and suitable for current and future users.
We anticipate minimal impact on the public from these works, however sections of the park and Goss Avenue Reserve may not be accessible at times including:
- the sport fields to the north and south of the South Perth Rugby League Clubroom
- the area around the George Burnett Leisure Centre
- north of the basketball courts
- the area around Manning Bike Track
- the northern portion of the existing playground (with the red shade) and
- the Goss Avenue Reserve footpath and adjacent area.
Please adhere to any signage and maintain a safe distance.
We ask that visitors to the precinct follow these safety guidelines while the work is being done:
- Do not enter the area of works.
- Do not approach plant operators for conversation. There are many hazards which place the worker, yourself and others at risk or serious injury.
- Do not stop the workers from performing their duties as this could result in unnecessary delays and place you at risk.
- Be aware of you own surroundings and keep dogs on leads at all times.
Work will be undertaken between 7am and 5pm. Visitors will notice increased vehicle activity in the area during the work.
