South Perth-Hurlingham underground power project completed
The South Perth-Hurlingham underground power project is now complete, delivering underground power to 1,575 homes and businesses across the area.
As part of this important upgrade, Western Power has removed 371 overhead poles and 21 kilometres of cables, replacing them with underground infrastructure and installing 305 new energy-efficient LED streetlights.
Underground power means better support for renewables, fewer outages, lower costs and space for trees to grow free of power lines.
We’d like to thank the community for their support, and look forward to the continued benefits this upgrade will bring to our streets and neighbourhoods.
This project is a Retrospective Undergrounding Project (RUP), a partnership between the City of South Perth and Western Power. To find out more about the benefits of underground power visit the Western Power Underground Power website.
