New Containers for Change Drop & Go Point in Como

City of South Perth and surrounding residents can now conveniently return their 10c drink containers at a new Containers for Change Drop & Go point at the City’s Recycling Centre in Como.  

Operated by Good Sammy, the Drop & Go point offers an easy way to return eligible drink containersfor a refund or donation to a local charity.  

City of South Perth Acting CEO Matthew Scott said the City was excited to join forces with Good Sammy to expand the recycling services at its Thelma Street Recycling Centre. 

“The new Drop & Go point complements other services at the Recycling Centre, including a new Reuse Shop operated by Workpower, charity bins and a waste and recycling drop-off point,” Mr Scott said. 

“These services, along with the City’s new Verge Valet™ collection service, help support the State Government’s move towards a circular economy." 

Good Sammy CEO Kane Blackman said Good Sammy was proud to be partnering with the City to make container recycling easier for the community.  

“This wonderful Containers for Change initiative sees our staff with disability regularly collect   containers and provide 10c per container back to local recyclers. You’ll now find bright green container collection points next to our bright yellow Good Sammy donation hubs on site, allowing textiles, household goods and containers to be recycled at the same time,” Mr Blackman said. 

Containers for Change CEO Tim Cusack said: “We applaud the City of South Perth’s efforts in improving recycling outcomes for its ratepayers and for its ongoing support of Containers for Change.” 

To use the Drop & Go point, sign up for a Containers for Change member number and set up your account. Then, all you need to do is bag your containers in green Containers for Change bags (available from Containers for Change website) or sturdy garbage bags, attach a tag with your member number on it and drop your bag into the chute. 

The Recycling Centre is open Wednesday to Sunday 8am to 2pm. On Saturdays and Sundays, visitors are asked to arrive before 1.45pm.
