Council adopts new planning policy
A new City policy will help assess how new developments exceeding typical height limits might impact the views from neighbouring buildings.
At its August meeting, Council adopted Local Planning Policy 7.2 – Significant Views. This policy directs the City to consider the likely impact of developments that propose a non-standard building height.
The policy was developed following community consultation and ensures a balanced approach between preserving significant views and allowing reasonable development.
The City first advertised the draft policy in June 2025 before reviewing public feedback.
