Nominating to be a council member

News Update 6 August 2025
Election
The Local Government Elections on Saturday 18 October 2025 provide our community with an opportunity to have their say on who should represent their views on Council.

With five seats available – two of them in the Mill Point Ward – this election offers residents the opportunity to help define our City’s leadership.

If you're keen to make a difference and are considering standing as a candidate, the nomination period opens on Thursday 28 August 2025.

You can nominate to stand as a candidate in the City of South Perth if you are eligible to vote, which means you are at least 18 years of age, not disqualified and enrolled to vote.

To help you understand the role and commitment required to be a Councillor, the City will hold a Candidate Information Session at 6pm, Thursday 21 August 2025 at the Civic Centre.

More information about nominations can be found on the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries website.

Visit our Elections page for more details about the City’s upcoming elections.
