City celebrates NAIDOC Week 2025
The City of South Perth will celebrate NAIDOC Week 2025, held from 6–13 July 2025, with a series of free, family-friendly events that honour the cultures, histories and achievements of First Nations people.
This year’s theme, ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy’, recognises the strength of young First Nations leaders, the vision of their communities, and the enduring legacy of their ancestors.
The City’s NAIDOC week activities will kick off with a Flag Raising Ceremony outside South Perth Community Hall on Monday 7 July from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. Light refreshments will be provided by Gather Foods following the ceremony. From 2.30pm to 4pm, community members are invited to join a free arts and crafts session inside the hall.
Events will continue Wednesday 16 July with a free Children’s Story Time with Tamara Tucker at Manning Library from 9.30am to 10.10am. In the evening, adults are invited to South Perth Library to enjoy an engaging session of Noongar storytelling with Tamara from 6pm to 7pm. Bookings are essential and can be made online.
City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner encouraged the community to take part in the week’s activities and deepen their understanding of First Nations culture and history.
“This year’s theme highlights the power and promise of the next generation,” he said.
“We’re proud to offer a week of meaningful, family-friendly events that bring our community together to connect and celebrate.”
