Evolve 2025: A Celebration of arts, events and culture

Media Release 11 June 2025
The City of South Perth is thrilled to announce the return of the beloved Evolve: Arts, Events and Culture Winter Program, running from Saturday 19 July to Saturday 23 August 2025.

This year’s program is bursting with creativity, featuring hands-on workshops, cultural experiences and a soul-stirring live music performance.

Let your imagination run wild as professional artists and creatives take over the City with a series of workshops including “kawaii” character drawing, coptic bookbinding, native plant painting, origami, floral arranging and more. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, there’s something for every age and ability.

One of the highlights of the program will be a live performance by the WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) Gospel Choir on Thursday 7 August at the Old Mill Theatre. Known for their rich harmonies and heartfelt performances, the choir will perform an unforgettable evening of music inspired by the deep traditions of gospel. It’s an experience not to be missed.

City of South Perth Mayor Greg Milner said Evolve continued to provide meaningful opportunities for the community to connect with the arts.

“Evolve is a fantastic way for people of all ages to immerse themselves in creativity,” he said.

“It’s about celebrating the diversity and talent of our local arts scene while providing enriching experiences that bring our community together.

From painting and candle making to cultural storytelling and creative life drawing, Evolve 2025 invites you to warm up your creativity this winter by trying something new, engaging with local artists and enjoying the City’s vibrant cultural life.
