National Volunteer Week celebrates local legends

News Update 20 May 2025
National Volunteer Week held from 19 May to 20 May is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of more than 100 dedicated City of South Perth volunteers who help make this community such a great place to live.

These volunteers embody this year’s theme of Connecting Communities for the work they do across a wide range of City programs and activities.

From supporting the City’s libraries and the South Perth Youth Network (SPYN), to taking part in tree planting, community reference groups and helping at City events, their efforts strengthen the community every day.

According to the 2021 Census, 21.1 per cent of the City’s population volunteers in some way, shape and form. While all communities rely on the invaluable support of volunteers, volunteering is also a rewarding way to give back, meet new people and develop new skills.
