Notice of Adoption of City of South Perth Local Laws

Public Notice 21 November 2024

The following local laws will come into effect on 4 December 2024.

Cats Local Law 2024

The purpose of the Cats Local Law 2024 is to control the keeping of cats, set a number of cats a person can keep, provide controls for nuisance cats and to prohibit cats in specified areas.

The effect is to encourage responsible cat ownership, that a person must not keep more than the prescribed number of cats provided for by the local law and to create cat prohibited areas.

Fencing Local Law 2024

The purpose of the Fencing Local Law 2024  is to prescribe a sufficient fence and the standard for the construction of fences throughout the district. The effect is to establish the minimum requirements for fencing within the district.  

A copy of the local laws are available on the City’s website southperth.wa.gov.au/local-laws   

Alternatively, a printed copy can be obtained from the City’s Civic Centre located at Cnr Sandgate St and South Tce, South Perth during business hours.
