Plan highlights City's commitment to reconciliation
The City of South Perth has moved into the ‘second stage’ of its reconciliation journey, following endorsement of its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Reconciliation Australia has given its formal support to the City’s RAP – a framework document to help the City achieve its vision for commitment to reconciliation.
The RAP, which was developed after extensive community consultation with key stakeholders and community members, outlines practical actions that drive the City’s contribution to reconciliation both internally and in the community.
The actions are meaningful yet aspirational and innovative to enable the City to trial new approaches for developing and strengthening relationships, showing respect and improving opportunities for Aboriginal people.
Developed in line with Reconciliation Australia’s RAP Framework, the plan is the City’s next step after successfully implementing its Aboriginal Engagement Strategy 2013 and includes four sections, called pillars:
- Relationships
- Respect
- Opportunities
- Governance.
Within these four pillars are goals, actions and deliverables that have been identified to develop and implement over the next two years.
