A curated parade of war time clothing with commentary showing how war significantly impacted women’s clothing; from material shortages to changes in socially acceptable styles.

When commemorations of war occur, images of soldiers spring to mind; men in uniform. But what about the women? What did they wear?

South Perth Library will host a heritage clothing parade which will showcase women's clothing during war time. The commentary will explain how war significantly impacted women’s clothing; from material shortages to changes in socially acceptable styles for women.

Models will walk the red carpet wearing everything from a World War I nurse's uniform to a 1940s mourning dress.

This event is part of the 2017 Australian Heritage Festival which is supported through funding from the Australian Government’s National Trusts Partnership Program.
