NAIDOC-Week-2021

Due to the ongoing uncertainty associated with COVID-19, the City has decided to cancel the NAIDOC Week Flag Raising Ceremony planned for the 5 July 2021. All other NAIDOC Week events are planned to continue, pending State Government restrictions.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as the oldest continuing cultures on the planet.

The City will celebrate NAIDOC Week from 4-11 July 2021, by partnering with local Noongar community members to host a series of free events including a flag raising ceremony, kids arts and crafts and an intergenerational storytime.

The NAIDOC 2021 theme, Heal Country! calls for all of us to continue to seek greater protections for our lands, our waters, our sacred sites and our cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration, and destruction.
