Stage two works begin on Coode Street accessible toilet
The City has received clearance from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) to commence stage two of construction on the new accessible public toilet facility at the Coode Street Foreshore.
Works began on Monday 1 September 2025 and will run for approximately 20 weeks, with completion expected by 30 January 2026. Stage two includes construction of the facility, internal fit-out and landscaping. Temporary fencing and signage have been erected around the site.
This project will deliver the City’s first Changing Places toilet, supported by a $181,200 grant from the Department of Communities under the Expanding the Changing Places Network initiative. The facility will provide appropriate amenities for people with high support needs, ensuring greater access and inclusion at the foreshore.
Located alongside the playground, BBQs and public open space, the new facility responds to community feedback in the Coode Street Foreshore Engagement Report and the City’s Public Toilet Strategy. It represents a valuable step in the City’s Access and Inclusion Plan, supporting everyone to enjoy this much-loved riverside destination.
