How much has your local government budgeted/spent on graffiti removal each of the past two years?
Over the past two years the City has budgeted approximately $50,000 per annum for the
removal of graffiti. The amount spent on graffiti removal has declined in recent years due to the City’s community safety initiatives.

How much was spent on repairing vandalism in the same period?
Approximately $35,000.

What was the most expensive repair item in recent times and what was the
approximate cost?
Damage to bus shelters. In 2016, the City has spent approximately $21,000 repairing damage to bus shelters caused through vandalism.

What is your council's most effective graffiti or vandalism mitigation program?
The City developed a Graffiti Management Program which offers a framework to report, remove, and reduce graffiti in the area. Communications, deterrents, reporting, removal, networking and early intervention are the most effective ways to mitigate against graffiti in the City. The City encourages residents to report any graffiti they see as soon as possible. The sooner graffiti is removed from an area the less likely it is to reoccur. Residents can phone or email the City, or use our Report It app. The online self-service portal allows people to login to track the progress of their requests in real-time and view their request history.

Are instances of graffiti and vandalism increasing or decreasing?
Across the past two years incidences of graffiti have decreased from 1,507 to 1,418.
