Node 5 Mill Point - Beaches and Headlands Upgrade

News Update 6 May 2016
South Perth Foreshore
Foreshore restoration works within Mill Point Node 5, east of the Narrows Bridge was finalised on 15 April 2016, three weeks ahead of schedule.

The restoration works were designed to assist with the stabilisation of the beach and prevent further sand migration. Other benefits include retention of existing vegetation and improved amenity through a more stable and accessible river edge.

The works were part of the City’s 2015/2016 Capital Works Program and signalled the commencement of the implementation of the South Perth Foreshore Strategy and Management Plan

Works included the construction of a river wall, three headlands and two beaches to control foreshore erosion and improve the amenity of the area. In addition, a universal access ramp was incorporated into the works to provide better beach access opportunities for the wider community.

The beaches and headlands are located adjacent to Millers Pool which will be redeveloped as the next stage of the Mill Point Node Project. Tenders for this stage closed on 19 April 2016, with works scheduled to commence mid-winter.

The landscaping of the headlands and the surrounding area will be carried-out in conjunction with the Milles Pool Project.
