Public art at the Manning Community Hub

News Update 6 January 2016
Manning Community Hub

Public art is set to feature throughout the new Manning Community Hub, with a series of freestanding and integrated artworks to complement the form and colours of the architectural design and the rhythm of the pedestrian flow. Following a competitive open tender process, with finalists presenting their concepts to the City’s Arts Advisory panel, artist team Milne and Stonehouse (Susan Milne and Greg Stonehouse) were selected for the monumental project.

The team’s concept design, ‘Imprint’ will use suspended mesh and LED lighting to create a large sculpture, with the artwork to sit boldly in the entrance to the hub. The artwork also includes a series of approximately 20 light boxes that will be filled with curated objects, images and materials. A glass transparent canopy that explores immersion and reflection is also included in their concept. The public art is expected to be installed prior to the Manning Community Hub opening in late 2016.
