The Minister for Local Government announced the State Government will be abandoning the local government reform process. This came about largely because after the proposed amalgamating local governments held polls and this resulted in process no longer taking place.
For a period of over two years, the City of South Perth have been working collaboratively with the Town of Victoria Park in the lead up to a proposed amalgamation. This included undertaking a review of systems, processes, and services, as well as identifying areas for improvement.
As the City of South Perth embarks on a new journey of their own, we want to bring the community with us to ensure we are the very best we can be. We want to build on our community where residents, ratepayers and business owners are proud to call it their own.
Now is the time for the City to revisit what we have been doing and consult with the community on what we can do better to determine the direction we need to go in becoming an independent socially, economically and environmentally sustainable local government – building the future of South Perth.
Leaving February behind and moving into March, it is that time of the year the City celebrates Fiesta 2015 and its treasure trove of events and activities. The vibrancy and enthusiasm Fiesta generates is something that truly energizes our community and brings many visitors to our City.
This year, the unique outdoor installation “Intrude” is attracting interest from far and wide – even though it’s not in place yet. At 7m tall and illuminated in white, the giant rabbits will truly transform our foreshore and are something not to be missed.
Check out the City’s website for more information about the events and activities for Fiesta 2015 taking place from 7 to 21 March. Don’t forget to tag #southperthfiesta when posting photos online from any one of the fantastic events.
