City of South Perth Council this week endorsed the South Perth Station Precinct Plan Final Report.

The report is the culmination of two years consultation and research and will be used as a guide for the future implementation of the redevelopment of the precinct.

City of South Perth Mayor, James Best said: “The decision to endorse the final report is an important step forward for the City.

“Since the initial meeting in 2008, consultants have worked with the local community to develop a concept for the South Perth Station Precinct that provides a framework to create a pedestrian friendly, vibrant and attractive business location.

“Any potential future development will involve further community consultation, allowing all interested stakeholders and residents the opportunity for input.

“The Syme Marmion Study of the precinct area aims to present a sustainable vision for future land use and transport options.

“The next stage in the process will take about 18 months and involves engaging consultants to progress amendments to the Town Planning Scheme 6, which will be required before any proposal to redevelop the area can be considered. This Scheme amendment process will require further consultation with the community.”
