South Perth's Vision for 2030
The City of South Perth is seeking active community members who are a part of existing and vibrant social networks to help identify the priorities of the City as we head towards the year 2030 and beyond.
Interested community members are invited to come along to the Como Secondary College gymnasium from 7pm on 10 September to hear internationally acclaimed long range planner Stephen Ames speak about community visioning and how it’s possible to get involved in setting the direction for the future. Invited to South Perth as part of the City’s visioning project, Stephen Ames is currently involved in similar projects in the US, Canada, and New Zealand, as well as several in Australia including Bold Future for the Gold Coast City Council, Toowoomba 2050, Blue Mountains Our Future and Vincent Vision 2024.
Mayor James Best said the visioning project is an opportunity for the community to envision the future it wants, and help plan how to achieve it.
“The project will involve extensive community consultation and result in a high level aspirational document to guide the development of the City, its strategies, and projects over the next 20 years,” he said.
“Attending the talk by Stephen Ames will be very informative in itself, but is also an opportunity for people to further their involvement in the project by nominating to participate in community stakeholder workshops in the coming months.
“These workshops will contribute to the development of a discussion paper, which will be used as the basis for the broader community consultation phase of the project in 2009.
“I would strongly encourage interested community member to attend the presentation and find out more about getting involved.”
